 were indifferent to those ofthe Holy Prophet(s.w.).

 Most of the heroes from among thepolytheist were slaughteredby Imam Ali's sword in the battles ofBadr, Uhud, Khaybar, Khandaq,and other famous wars.

 There wasonly one battle that Imam Ali did notparticipate in; it was the battleof Tabook, when the Holy Prophet (s.w.)himself ordered him tostay in Medina and protect it from anyunexpected attack.

 Beforethe battle of Khaybar, the Holy Prophet (s.w.)said, describingImam Ali,: "I am going to give the banner of this battle toa manwho loves Allah and His Apostle, and Allah and His Apostlelovehim too.
